Product Introduction

SiC insert is made of silicon carbide ceramic, which a carbide ceramic in black color. SiC ceramic is toxicologically safe and can be used in the food industry. Compared with other advanced ceramics in high-temperature environment (above 1,000°C), SiC ceramic has a higher wear resistance and a smaller reduction in mechanical strength. Because of its strong covalent bond, among various technical ceramic materials, the Mohs hardness of SiC ceramic can reach 9.5, which is higher than that of most technical ceramics. Therefore, if polishing treatment is required, the cost will be high. In addition, pure SiC will not be corroded by acid solutions such as HCl, HNO3, H2SO4, and HF, and alkaline solutions such as NaOH. Oxidation is easy to occur when heated in air, but the SiO2 formed on the surface will inhibit the further diffusion of oxygen during oxidation, so the oxidation rate is not high.

SiC ceramic is composed of strong covalent bonds, which makes SiC have the characteristics of high thermal conductivity, good thermal stability, and excellent mechanical properties, but it also makes it difficult to produce. In order to ensure the high thermal conductivity of SiC ceramic, the high purity and high density of SiC ceramic are essential. UNIPRETEC relies on years of production and R&D experience in the field of SiC ceramics, selects high-purity raw materials and combines the production process of pressureless sintering to produce high-quality SiC products. A lot of SiC cup inserts are available by UNIPRETEC, such as 11mm, 15mm, 19mm, 25mm, 30mm, 3 Grams... Customers in need are welcome to consult.

Why Choose SiC Ceramic Insert

√ chemically inert & non-toxic

√ ceramic has no pollution at all

√ thermal conductivity > 130 W/m.K

√ strong resistance to oil and chemical

√ continous use temp. > 1,000℃ / 1,800°F

√ high hardness, strong resistance to wear

More Information

The key indicator of ceramic insert is thermal conductivity. Thermal conductivity is also known as heat conductivity coefficient, which refers to the ability of a material to directly transfer thermal energy from a high-temperature area to a low-temperature area. Representatives of advanced ceramic materials with thermal conductivity higher than 100 W/m.K are Beryllium Oxide(BeO), Aluminum Nitride(AlN) and Silicon Carbide(SiC). The fatal disadvantage of BeO ceramic is its high toxicity. Long-term inhalation of BeO dust can cause poisoning and even life-threatening, and causes pollution to the environment, so it cannot be used as an insert at all. This is why suitable ceramic materials are SiC and AlN. The contrast between AlN and SiC, on the one hand, the hardness of SiC is much higher than that of AlN, so the inner wall of insert cup is not easy to polish. On the other hand, the average thermal conductivity of AlN of 170 W/m.K is about 30% higher than that of SiC of 130 W/m.K. However, AlN material are not easy to produce, and the molding process is not as mature as SiC. On the whole, the costs of the two are similar, and both are suitable choices for banger insert.
