Machinable Boron Nitride Ceramics
Machinable Boron Nitride Ceramics are made by hot pressing boron nitride powders at high temperature and pressure. These ceramics can easily be machined into rods, bars, plates and even intricate custom shapes.
The unique combination of exceptional thermal, physical and chemical characteristics of Boron Nitride ceramic makes it ideal for solving tough challenges in a wide range of industrial applications.
● Excellent thermal shock resistance
● High electrical resistivity
● High thermal conductivity
● Good chemical inertness
● High temperature material
● Excellent lubricating properties -- low coefficient of friction
● Non-wetting (without oxidation)
● High dielectric breakdown strength
● Excellent machinability
BN-1700
BN-1700 is one of the highest purity hexagonal boron nitride (hBN) solids available. It is a good choice for applications where corrosion resistance is more important than wear resistance. It is a diffusion-bonded ceramic and does not depend on B2O3 or other binders for mechanical integrity. Consequently, it is non-wet by almost all molten metals. This ultra purity advantage allows for applications that are not provided by other hot pressed boron nitride solids, such as crucibles for high-purity molten metals. Key properties as below:
- Extremely inert and non-wet by many molten materials such as metals, glasses, halide salts, and other reagents.
- Has minimal thermal expansion, high thermal conductivity, and use temperature in certain inert atmospheres over 2000°C. Thermal shock stability is excellent over a wide range of use temperatures.
- Yields increasing relative strength versus temperature. This important feature provides higher temperature performance to applications previously unattainable with B2O3 and other bonded boron nitrides.

BN-2000
Boron Nitride BN-2000 is an excellent choice for all but the most severe refractory applications. It is a high performance material possessing a glassy B2O3 binder that creates a hard and dense but fully machinable material.
BN-2000 is the most cost-effective of hot-pressed Boron Nitride. It finds a substantial replacement business as relatively high-temperature insulators in legacy semiconductor equipment and defense applications. It can be machined in large parts from billets up to 490mm x 490mm x 400mm. However, its B2O3 binder is hygroscopic and care must be taken to ensure components are isolated from moisture during storage and use. Unipretec uses many methods of packaging to maintain the high quality of its machined components.
BN-2300
It is a composite of boron nitride and alumina matrix. The alumina composite contributes to its better mechanical strength and non-abrading properties. With an added benefit of good thermal conductivity, non-wetting by molten metals and easy machining, BN-2300 is an ideal material for molten metal applications such as metal atomizing nozzles, and side dams for thin strip casting.

BN-2800
Unipretec hexagonal boron nitride grade BN-2800 combines boron nitride with aluminum nitride to get higher thermal conductivity. AlN material also contributes to better mechanical strength. BN2800 material has an advantage in applications where high thermal conductivity and high temperature is required.
BN-3000
Machinable Ceramics BN3000 combines the best properties of hot-pressed boron nitride with the non-reactivity and strength of zirconia. Most commonly used as atomising nozzles and break rings for horizontal continuous casters, its unique thermal, chemical, electrical, wear and machinability properties permit a wide variety of molten metal contact applications.
BN3000 offers outstanding wear resistance, non-wetting properties, high thermal conductivity and superior high temperature strength. It is ideal for molten metal applications such as continuous casting break rings, metal atomizing nozzles, and side dams for thin strip casting. Other potential areas include wear components, such as guides and rollers in diverse glass and light-metal baths.

Hexagonal Boron Nitride Powder
Hexagonal boron nitride powder is an advanced material with a microscopic flaky morphology and a molecular structure of hexagonal crystals. Commonly referred to as "white graphite", hBN crystals naturally form into platelets with a roughly hexagonal shape. While widely known as a high performance dielectric cooling filler, hBN powders add value to many different industries. With a variety of particle shapes and sizes available, Unipretec provides hbn powders in a wide array of markets and application
